The value of procurement in the renovation of The Palace Hotel

In the recent renovation of the historic Hotel Palace, CIDON's Procurement department played a decisive role in turning the design vision into a tangible and sustainable reality. This process, often invisible to the general public, was instrumental in ensuring that every detail of the project met the highest standards of quality, functionality, and economic viability.

Candela López de los Mozos, Procurement Project Manager at CIDON

Madrid's Palace Hotel recently hosted the latest edition of AMBIT Experience, a meeting that brought together the teams responsible for its ambitious renovation. Under the dome of this hospitality icon, Ruiz Larrea Arquitectos, Lázaro Rosa Violán Studio, Arcadis, and CIDON met to share the challenges and lessons learned from a renovation process as complex as it was inspiring. The event combined joint presentations, guided tours of the renovated spaces, and a networking atmosphere that highlighted the interdisciplinary collaboration behind this landmark project.

From Idea to Reality: Procurement

The first challenge was aligning the budget with the design, a balancing act between creativity and rigor that allowed the project's essence to be maintained without sacrificing cost efficiency. Each choice was validated based on criteria of aesthetic coherence, compliance with standards, and resource optimization, ensuring that the investment translated into real value for the property.

Precise logistics in a historic setting

Added to this was the logistical complexity of working in a historic building located in the heart of Madrid. Planning access, deliveries, and material removal required extensive coordination with hotel operations and the urban environment. Thanks to this management, any disruption to the hotel's daily operations was avoided and the planned deadlines were met.

Quality, Certification, and Functionality as a Guarantee of Excellence

Another key pillar was the quality control and certification of each product and supplier. From the furniture to the decorative elements, everything underwent a process of technical review and final inspections that guaranteed the durability, safety, and impeccable finish required by a luxury hotel with more than a century of history.

Finally, CIDON focused on the functionality of each piece. Beyond aesthetics, Procurement ensured that each element met criteria for intensive use, ergonomics, and maintenance, ensuring that the guest experience aligns with The Palace's Hotel promise of excellence.
